Who: Rita Ora
Where: GQ Men of the Year Awards 2014
Why we like it: With Fashion Week, film festivals and parties left and right, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to celeb-spiration this week. We love this look on Rita because it’s bold and dramatic, but not too serious. Foregoing the usual winged liner for a swooping curve, this is a cool reinterpretation of a classic smoky eye.
How to get it at home: Start with a base that isn’t too heavy in texture, but will smooth and cover any imperfections, such as Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Light Stay-in Place Makeup ($37), then add some definition back with a bronze-toned blush, like Bobbi Brown’s Brightening Blush ($45). It’s always important to anchor a smoky eye with a bold, defined brow or it can easily look out of balance. We like Eyeko’s Brow Liner ($19) for its precise application and smooth finish.
This eye might look difficult and high-maintenance, but there are so many great, smudgeable liners, such as Too Faced’s Bulletproof 24 Hour Eyeliner ($22), which allow you to get clean lines and blurred smudges, all with one product. Blend to your heart’s content, then top it off with your favorite mascara. Finish your look with a bold, nude lip, such as Hourglass’ Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick ($10).
