Who: Rita Ora
Where: The BRIT Awards
Why we like it: When a star, or starlet in this case, departs from their signature look it’s always news. It’s rare to see Rita Ora without her signature red lip, so that alone made us stand up and notice this look, but once we took a deeper look we grew to love her shimmery emerald eye.
How to get it at home: Start with a foundation, such as By Terry’s Terrybly Densiliss ($115), which is from a new family of serum-based foundations that work to enhance your skin’s texture and natural radiance. Then go in with a contour, such as NARS’ Matte Multiple in Vientiane ($39), under the cheekbones. You may think using a matte contour such as this would defeat the purpose of this radiant look but the shadow will actually make the tops of the cheek bones look much brighter. Also, natural shadows don’t generally come with sparkles so your contour will look much more natural if you use a matte formula.
Get Rita’s polished brows using Anastasia’s Tinted Brow Gel ($22) which acts as a tamer while adding color and definition. Start your emerald smoky eye with a palette, such as Kat Von D’s True Romance Eyeshadow Trio in Helmüt ($24), which will allow for you to add depth by layering the dark shimmer shade over the matte base. If you want to get serious color payoff, try wetting your brush before application. Add that red carpet sparkle with Make Up For Ever’s Diamond Powder in Gold 16 ($25) and line your waterline with a deep black liner such as Smashbox’s Always Sharp 3D Liner in 3D Galaxy ($20). Finish off your look with a coat of mascara and a lip balm, such as Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm ($7.50).
